Dinner party pics!

First can we just admire my plate set in that first pic? Pink and green PLAID. How much? $3 for all of it (plus the serving tray and a set of knives). Yard sale. HOLLA! Ahem, moving on.

These are Garlic Chedder Biscuits courtesy of the amazing Joyful Abode blog (click the link!) I put them in mini muffin tins because well, to be honest, I only have one little casserole dish thingy, and it's tiny ($1 at a yard sale, holla) but I have lots of mini cupcake pans! They came out adorable though. For comparison:

Spooned batter biscuits

Muffin tin biscuits!
So back to the food. What's in that yellow bowl, you may wonder?

That would be delicious roasted garlic. Mmmmm I love it so much. I went to costco and bought a lifetime supply of fresh, peeled garlic cloves spefically for roasting! Just toss some garlic onto a baking sheet at 400 degrees until brown, 30 mins or so. You can eat 'em plain, in pasta, spread on bread (they become very supple). The garlicky edge gets taken off when you roast them and they just become super tasty.

My beautiful centerpiece! Giant flowers stolen from my mom's garden, a recycled jar, and a ribbon. Idea from Good Housekeeping :D although they suggested a tree branch.

And the fina product. Well, the appetizer anyway. Biscuits, butter, and garlic :)
So, the day that this "dinner party" happened (my mom, dad, and grandmother were the honored guests) I had been up since 6 am. I had yard saled until 1pm (selling, not buying) taken a nap, and then cooked and cleaned for the next FOUR HOURS OHMYGOD. Who knew such a tiny apartment could require so much picking up and putting away? Plus it was just so frigging hot, what with the oven on and the water boiling and the 80 degree weather and the shower running. So yes, a bit hectic. I didn't get around to taking pictures of anything but my beautiful appetizer ... but it was so beautiful, I had to share. The next course was a salad (arugula mix from costco, goat cheese, walnuts and dried cranberries from the dollar store), the main course was pasta with artichokes (both from costco), sundried tomatoes (the dollar store) and canned olives, (mmm), with olive oil, black pepper and parmesan cheese mixed in for taste. Dessert was frozen mixed berries (love that costco) heated up and sprinkled with sugar, with some refrigerated Golden Butter betty crocker minicupcakes to soak in the juice. I wore a dress and everything. If I ever get that much energy again (and have this much food to spare) I am totally throwing a dinner party for my friends!
So, my first experience as a hostess in my apartment. How'd I do? Eat it, Martha Stewart! (not really, I love her, everyone should read her book on starting a small business, it's great.)
